Wisbech announce three more signings

Wisbech Town have announced another three signings today (Friday).

Goalkeeper Luke Pearson, midfielder Jack Gurney and winger Liam Adams join striker Avelino Vieira, who signed yesterday. Gurney had a brief loan spell with Wisbech during the 2018/19 season and Adams has also previously played at the club.

Ten of last season's squad have also re-signed, with defender Aaron Hart and striker Tiago Nassunculo leaving.

Negotiations are ongoing with other squad members, including captain Sam Spencer.

Manager Brett Whaley said of the former Norwich United, King's Lynn, Fakenham and Downham stopper Pearson: "Luke was our first choice keeper for this season and I'm delighted to get him on board. He ticks all the boxes for the type of player we want at the club so we feel it's a really important signing in a key position."

On former Deeping Rangers and Peterborough youth player Gurney, he said: "After an impressive first season in non league the time is right for Jack to step up. We're really pleased he chose to come to us, despite interest from higher leagues. He's perfect as the ball playing midfielder we wanted to add to the squad."

Finally, he spoke about former Boston United and Stamford player Adams: "He's got very good ability and will create us chances. We felt in the few games we had last season that we didn't create enough, so Liam will be important to make these things happen in the final third. He'll make and score the goals we need to push up the table."
