Wisbech St Mary get first point and March win, but defeats for Wisbech and Parson Drove
It was lucky 13 this afternoon for Wisbech St Mary as they earned their first point of the season after 12 straight defeats.
New manager Paul Hunt oversaw a 2-2 draw against 13th placed Leiston Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division North.
An own goal gave the visitors a 14th minute lead, but Aaron McKenna equalised in the 22nd minute and club stalwart Jordan Goult made it 2-1 early in the second half, before Leiston drew level.
In the same division, Parson Drove slip to fifth from bottom after a 3-1 defeat at eighth placed Framlingham Town. The Castlemen scored early on, only for Ryan Lennon to score his seventh of the season with a great 18th minute finish to equalise. Two second half goals sealed a win for the home team.
In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division, March Town rise two places to 13th after a 3-2 home win against Thetford Town, who drop to 15th. Craig Gillies gave Ash Taylor's men a first minute lead with his 10th of the season, Jack Friend made it 2-0 ten minutes into the second half with his 14th and then Gillies wrapped it up a minute later with his second of the match and 11th of the campaign. Town hit back in the 71st and 90th minutes.
In the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midland Division, Wisbech Town drop to second from bottom after a heavy 5-0 defeat at Stamford, all five Daniels goals coming in the first half.
