Wisbech, March and Chatteris cricket clubs in action on weekend of May 28-29 2022
Cambs & Hunts Premier League leaders Wisbech Town Cricket Club triumphed by 152 runs over Foxton Granta on Saturday in the Fenland Citizen game of the day.
Wisbech 1st XI amassed 253 for 9 when their 50 overs closed.
Opener Danny Haynes struck 57 off 78 balls with eight fours, Gary Freear hit 22, wicketkeeper Josh Bowers got 61 from 93 balls with six fours, Jamie Seabrook 15, Australian Ryan Clark 37 and skipper James Williams 15.
Haynes and Bowers added 78 for the second wicket in Whiting & Partners Division 1.
Foxton Granta collapsed from 20-0 to 68-8 and slid to 101 all out in the 27th over.
George Gowler bagged 2-21, Kieran Haynes 3-38, Josh Porter 1-18, Jonny Garner 3-20 and Clark 1-0 for a 30-point success.
Wisbech are 42 points ahead of second-placed Cambridge St Giles, who have a match in hand.
Hosts Bharat Sports beat basement side Wisbech 2nds by six wickets in Division 3.
Wisbech 2nds were 184 all out in 44.5 overs. Ross Gardner hit 14, Spencer Snowball 26, Rhys Howell 55 and Brodie Ellis 11.
The Hunts side quickly reached 186-4 in the 25th over. Ellis took 1-42, Howell 2-27 and Joe Dunning 2-53.
Wisbech 4ths beat Wilburton 3rds by 95 runs to go second in CCA Junior League 5 North.
Wisbech 4ths piled up 319-4 in 40 overs. Wilburton were 224 all out in 38 overs.
March Town are bottom of the Whitings Division 1 table after conceding 349 for 5 in Ramsey’s 50 overs to lose by 153 runs.
Aron Visser took 1-55, Callum Young 2-50 and David Haslegrave 2-32 as away opener Ben Saunders hammered 131.
March in reply made 196 all out from 36.4 overs. Opener Adam Conyard hit a brisk 44, Visser 13, Haslegrave 24, Lewis Welcher 32, Young 16 and skipper Samuel Clarke 47 off 37 balls with eight fours and a six, with Robert Moden absent.
March 2nds lost by 96 runs at Cambridge NCI and are second bottom in CCA Senior League Division 1.
Vikas Acharya smashed 120 as Cambridge set 280-4 in 45 overs. Edward Rodgers captured 2-24, Matthew Vail 1-24 and Nathan Oliver 1-24.
March 2nds were dismissed for 184 from 45 overs.
Oliver notched 15, captain Tommy Howgego 27, Nigel Wright 22, Jacob Gray 19, A Menson 15 and Vail 61.
Chatteris won by five wickets at Histon 2nds to go second in CCA Senior League Division 1.
Histon were 187 all out off 40.3 overs. Anton Kaval grabbed 2-26, James Fraser 3-52, Peter Munns 2-31, Anthony Bamford 1-46 and Oliver Tilbrook 1-9.
Chatteris were five down with plenty needed. Bamford scored 11, Ben Hollis 16 and Fraser 15.
But Peter Munns struck 67 not out from 105 balls with seven fours and Connor Morton 58 no off 44 balls with nine boundaries to take them to 190-5 with two overs to spare.
Chatteris 2nds conceded at Kimbolton 2nds.
Visitors Isleham conceded to Wimblington, who gained 20 points in CCA Junior League 4 North.
Third-placed Wimblington are two points behind leaders Milton.
