Enjoy festivities as Wisbech and March hold their annual Christmas Markets
Festive stalls, entertainment and fun will fill March and Wisbech again this year as annual free-to-attend Christmas events return.
March festive market and Wisbech Christmas fair will each include live entertainment, free and low-cost children’s rides and activities, 100 plus stalls offering festive food and gifts, craft markets and a chance to see Santa.
Cllr Peter Murphy, Fenland district council’s portfolio holder for markets and events, said: “We are very fortunate in Fenland to have several Christmas events made possible by our fabulous communities.
“We are delighted to again lend our support to March Christmas Market and Wisbech Christmas Fayre and look forward to seeing our towns alive with visitors and festive magic. Both events are always fantastic.”
March Christmas market will be held from 10am-4pm on Sunday, December 1.
This year it returns to Broad Street following the multi-million regeneration works.
There will be a craft market, and activities with 20Twenty Productions, at March Library, on City Road. There will be free children’s rides in March Market Place.
Providing more fun, there will also be a free haunted house, sponsored by Rutterford Construction and Cobra Engineering.
Cllr Jan French, chair of March events committee, said: “It is an exciting year with the return to Broad Street and we look forward to welcoming visitors to share what is always a fabulous event.”
Wisbech Christmas fair will be taking place on Sunday, December 8, from 10am-3pm.
Stalls will spread across the town centre including the Market Place, High Street, Bridge Street, Ely Place, Union Place and York Row.
A craft market and activities will also take place in Wisbech Library, on Ely Place, including a drop-in mosaic art session 11am to 1pm.
There will be a miniature ride-on train on Market Street, as well as street performers and the Wisbech and Fenland Museum will be open.
Localised road closures will be in place on event days.
Anyone who can travel to the events on foot, cycle or public transport is encouraged to as parking will be limited. Visitors travelling by car are encouraged to use free council car parks.
