Pensioners in Parson Drove tucked into a tasty Christmas lunch thanks to the hard work of volunteers. Casey Bates, Maureen Fyson and friends organised bingos throughout the year to raise money to fund the lunch. A total of 91 pensioners sat down to a three-course meal in the village hall. The guests also enjoyed entertainment from Big D during the six-hour event. Mrs Bates said: “It was wonderful. We had a lot of happy people. “We are looking forward to next year’s event.”

Elves swapped reindeer to pull Santa’s sleigh for a motorbike during a toy run. More than 600 bikes created quite a sight after gathering in the Tesco car park in Wisbech on December 14. The bikers were on a toy run to help youngsters and stopped off at RAF Marham.

Residents of a Wisbech care home and their families got into the festive spirit during a Christmas fair. Santa made a special appearance at the Glennfield Care Centre event. He chatted to youngsters in the grotto set up at the Money Bank site. Other attractions included stalls, tombola, craft stalls and cakes. The event raised at least £450 for the residents comfort fund. The centre is also selling calendars of one of its most popular residents, Jasper the cat. The calendars cost is £5 and money raised will go towards his vets bills. Activities co-ordinator Amanada Scott said: “It was a really nice afternoon and the residents really enjoyed it.”
