Diversion for overnight A47 closure

Drivers are being warned a major Fenland road will be closed for five nights later this month with a diversion in place.

The A47 at Guyhirn (Gull Road) will be closed from 8pm to 6am daily between Monday, November 20 and Friday, November 25.

To carry out the resurfacing work which National Highways says will benefit drivers as the road surface will be “safer, smoother and better-defined” there will be a diversion in place.

The A47 will be closed from the New Cut Roundabout to the Rings End Roundabout in both directions.

The closure means drivers travelling eastbound will be diverted west from New Cut roundabout. Drivers will be taken via the Thorney bypass towards Eye and then south to join the Frank Perkins Parkway/Fletton Parkway before eventually joining the A605 to Whittlesey and then on to the A141 to rejoin the A47 at Rings End – the diversion will add around 36 minutes driving to journeys.

Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion in reverse.

Local traffic will be diverted north on Gull Road/B1187, then west along Gull Drove and south along Black Drove to rejoin the A47.
