Military vehicles and flypast coming to Wisbech Park as part of Armed Forces Day

A day for Wisbech residents to celebrate service veterans, members of the armed forces, and the cadet forces is fast approaching.

On Sunday, June 22, residents will be able to come together to mark Armed Forces Day at Wisbech Park with armoured military vehicles from Call Sign Alpha, along with a Morris 8 and a myriad of 1940s memorabilia such as a wind-up gramophone, books, magazines, war papers, and much more.

People will be dressed in 1940s attire to give an authentic wartime appearance.

Members of the Wisbech Cadet Forces of the Sea, Army, Royal Air Force, and GVC will assist with a flag-raising ceremony at 10am.

They will also take part in a parade led by 272 Wisbech Squadron Band towards the end of the day, where the salute will be taken by local veterans in order to pay tribute to their service to our country, along with Lord Lieutenant and the Wisbech mayor, Janet Tanfield, together with councillors.

There will be stalls from local branches of ex-service organisations, cadet groups, service charities, Bridge For Heroes, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Fenland Veterans, and Veterans Voice Outreach.
