'After Dark' at Wisbech Museum this half-term for torchlight family fun

Wisbech and Fenland Museum is switching off the lights and asking families to dress up and bring a torch for a spooky After Dark event this half-term holiday.

From 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, October 25, children can explore the darkened galleries and hear scary local folk-tales of Fen giants, ogres and boggarts.

Around the craft tables they can enjoy learning how to make slime and other seasonal artefacts, and those who wish can get their faces painted.

Museum learning officer Louise Haselgrove said: “We're reviving our popular torchlit Night at the Museum this half-term, and along with a lot of family fun, this year we'll be digging into Fenland history and folklore.

“The Fens were populated by some very spooky characters according to local legend and we'll be telling some of those stories.

“We're also inviting visitors on the night to explore the Museum’s collection of ‘witch bottles’ and find out more about historic beliefs around witchcraft, magic, and medicine.”

This event is open from 4 – 7pm on Tuesday 25 October 2022. Entry is £2.50 for children, with accompanying adults and children aged five and under visiting free of charge.
