General Election 2024: Count is underway in Wisbech for North East Cambridgeshire Constituency
The count to name the next MP for North East Cambridgeshire is underway at the Hudson Leisure Centre in Wisbech.
The first boxes from polling stations across the constituency have been flowing into the hall since the polls closed at 10pm tonight, after a day of voting.
There are six candidates in the running for the job of representing our area in the next parliament.
They are Steve Barclay, the incumbent Conservative who has held the seat since 2010.
His opponents are David Chalmers for the Liberal Democrats, Andrew Crawford, Green Party; Javeria Hussain, Labour; Clayton Payne, Workers Party of Britain; David Patrick, Independent; Chris Thornhill, Reform.
Currently, the only candidates at the count are Chris Thornhill and Clayton Payne, however there is strong representation from all the parties as the count begins with the verification of votes.
More to follow as the night unfolds.
