A young girl organised a successful fundraising event to help the family of a classmate make memories together.
Shyla Brown, who is 10 years old, organised a colour run – all by herself – which took place on Sunday at Newton-in-the-Isle Playing Field, raising more than £1,300 for the family of brain tumour sufferer Kim Tarbie to make some amazing memories together.
The Peckover Primary School pupil came up with this idea after speaking to her friend Kenzie, 10, Kim’s daughter.

After asking what she could do to make things better and being told there was nothing, Shyla asked her own mum for ideas.
Her mum, Blair Simpson, said: “Shyla came home and asked me what we could do. At the time, I didn't know the person, so I was not sure what the situation was.
“I spoke to a mutual friend who confirmed the situation, and she introduced me to the mum.

“Shyla asked if we could do something fun as she has an extreme challenge coming up soon, so we wanted to make it nice for everyone to get involved with.”
The pair came up with the idea of a colour run, for which all the money raised will go to the family so they can make some lovely memories together.
The event was a great success and Blair said: “We were absolutely made up by the number of people that showed up to support, we had more than 100 people covered in paint.”

“Shyla was covered head to toe as she led the run around the playing field and it was just absolutely beautiful to see so many happy faces.
“I sat down with Kim before the run and she said that while she may be going through something not so nice in life, the beautiful thing is, it's taught her to smile. Which is so lovely. She wore her smile all day and gave all the runners a medal at the end.”
Kim is now planning trips and days out with the money that was raised.
