Gallery: Thousands enjoy ninth annual Wisbech Armed Forces Day celebrations
Thousands of people turned out as Wisbech held its ninth annual Armed Forces Day on Sunday.
The event on the town's Market Place included a display of vintage vehicles as well as wartime memorabilia including books, posters and various implements.
There were also charity stalls including those run by military and ex-service groups.
One of the highlights was the afternoon parade with Wisbech Uniformed Service Cadets Corps, followed by a short thanksgiving service and sunset ceremony.
Ray Hutchinson, who helped organise the event, said it went extremely well adding "it was one of the better ones" with the Market Place full for most of the afternoon thanks in part to the day's glorious weather.
Wisbech mayor Councillor Michael Hill, and Richard Barnwell, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, were also at the event.
Crowds were entertained with performances from the Wisbech Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society and the Whittlesey Wind Ensemble both of which included wartime songs. There was also a short piece from the Angles Theatre's cast of hit comedy 'Blackadder Goes Forth'.
Other attractions included fairground rides and refreshment stalls.
Chatteris Royal British Legion will be marking Armed Forces Day this coming Saturday (29).
It will involve a short service at the town's War Memorial and laying of a wreath of fresh flowers at 9am. It is being held early in the day to avoid clashing with events including the carnival parade associated with Chatteris Summer Festival.
Those wishing to attend the War Memorial are reminded they need to park away from Market Hill and High Street as the roads will be closed for carnival parade.
