TV auctioneer guest speaker in Ementh
An auctioneer familiar on TV screens in programmes such as Flog It, Bargain Hunt and Cash in the Attic will be guest speaker at an event in Emneth on Tuesday.
Experienced auctioneer David Palmer will be giving a talk at the Wisbech and District Fuchsia and Pelargonium Society’s meeting at Emneth Central Hall.
He started auctioning in 1982 and has been freelance for the past decade since becoming a house husband.
He is an experienced auctioneer who relishes new challenges – all he requires is a PA system and an audience. He has sold everything from fields, shops, private houses, theatres, nightclubs, cathedrals, market squares, restaurants and schools to name but a few.
Now he travels around 40,000 miles a year to attend a wide variety of auctions, including emergency relief cover for charities, corporate and commercial auctions.
He regularly gives talks about his experiences and life as an auctioneer to a variety of groups.
He has conducted sales with only one lot to 2,224 lots – which is the most to date in a single day.
His noted animated, informal and humorous style can bring positive results to auctions and he is aware that people need to be entertained as well as parting with their money.
The talk is free for members of the Wisbech group and £2 for visitors.
Mr Palmer will also value small items in the second half for society members only.
