Pete Emery takes Tydd Gote Angling Club Wednesday Open top spot at Main Road from Jon Young

Pete Emery (pictured) took top spot at the Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Wednesday Open at Main Road with an impressive 14lb 11oz from peg 32 in a string of excellent weights.

Pete had a near-4lb bream inside the first hour, fishing worm on feeder to the far bank, and then added a cracking net of big roach to pinkie over hemp and pinkie for a narrow win over Jon Young, who had 13lb 2oz of bream and perch from peg 23.

Ian Benton was third with two good bream and some perch for 12lb 10oz on peg 28, with Mick Asker’s fine net of roach for 10lb 13oz in fourth from 25.

At the Sunday club match at Black Dyke the leading weights looked good but it was a dour affair for many.

Out in front with some quality roach to pinkie was Dave Simmonds on peg 12, his 8lb 8oz total just edging Paul Bawden’s 8lb 2oz, also on pinkie over hemp from peg 7, into second. Mick Dixon on peg 1 took third with 4lb 4oz, in front of Mick Asker’s 4lb 2oz on peg 10.
