Fenmen boss Dick Creasey said his depleted side was worth a point in this ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Boxing Day derby at Carters Park.
Former Posh forward Matt Nolan’s 27th minute header on his Holbeach home debut separated the sides.
Due to players being unavailable for this festive fixture, Creasey drafted in two players from his former club, on-loan Spalding United pair Lewis Webb and Luke Thurlbourne.
Creasey said: “I got a text from their manager (Graham Drury) who said a draw would have been a fair result.
“We had seven players missing, and six of those would have started. The two from Spalding did very well.
“For their goal it was our mistake: we didn’t pick up well at a corner. Apart from that I think they had one other chance.
“Adam Millson hit the post and in the last kick of the game I would have put my mortgage on Danny Beaumont to score.
“In the six yard box he somehow scuffed it and the ball bobbled wide. Sometimes you don’t get what you deserve in football.
“We didn’t do enough to win but did enough to get a draw, but we had so many players missing.
“I’m disappointed, but at this level of football you have to understand why players want to be with their families.”
Wisbech Town on Saturday in their first game of 2015 will be aiming to bounce back at second from bottom Northampton Sileby Rangers.
Everyone should be available apart from Neal Spafford, who sits out a one-game suspension due to racking up five bookings.
There is a double fitness boost as both Josh Ford and Billy Smith may be involved.
Creasey said: “Josh will make the bench. I thought he was close to making the other day (against Holbeach) but it is not worth risking him for one match.
“Billy looks like he will back and involved too.”

It means the fifth-place Hares will have had three weeks without a game as next up is a visit to King’s Lynn Town Res on January 10.
