Sydney Davis nets rare goal as March Town Ladies KO Isleham from Cambs Invitation Cup

Cambs Invitation Cup 1st Rd – Isleham Ladies 1 March Town Ladies 4

The Hares moved into the second round of the cup after disposing of a stubborn Isleham.

Despite a number of close efforts, including Kayleigh Churchyard hitting the post, it was Isleham who took the lead with their first effort on 30 minutes.

The Hares equalised when Del Munday played the ball to Sydney Davis, who scored a screamer from outside the area, with only her second goal in over 120 games; 1-1 at half-time.

A strong second half saw three further goals for the Hares without reply. Lexi Waters played a great ball through to Josie Turner, who hit a strong shot into the far corner.

A quick Davis throw in was controlled by Munday and she played an intelligent ball through to the impressive Turner, who scored her second.

With 15 minutes to go, Louise Barbour hit an excellent shot which hit the underside of the crossbar and went over the line. A great goal for Barbour who has just returned from a long spell out injured.

The Hares now have a run of league games starting with St Ives at the Lane next Sunday.
