Callum Gill impress for Fenland drivers at King’s Lynn stock car racing
Callum Gill was back on track at King’s Lynn on a Saturday which proved to be an exhilarating day of racing.
However, while he and his fans were hoping it would be at the wheel of his F1 Stock Car for the first time since May, delays to his engine repair saw him unable to do that.
He instead went back to his roots at the wheel of an Unlimited Banger.
He subsequently had a decent night, and recorded a third place finish in his opening race and followed it up with a fifth place spot later in the night.
Other local drivers in action in the Unlimited Bangers were James Licquorice, Lee Barnes and Dan Clarke. All three put on a great show, with Licquorice in particular putting in some good shots which helped him to finish at the top of the pile of the Unlimited Banger World of Shale qualifying points.
The BriSCA F2 Stock Cars were also in action in a special meeting for White & Yellow grade drivers only.
When the big boys are away the lower graders always put on a great show, and Saturday was no exception. Three local drivers were in action in the shale of Sam Russell, Jess Ward and Daniel Horsepool.
Russell was the best finisher in the final, coming home in 15th place in a race which was won by Marcus Gilbert.
Earlier in the day, he had recorded sixth and eighth place finishes, with Horsepool getting a ninth place finish and Ward – in her first appearance for a couple of years at King’s Lynn – recording a 15th place finish.
