Thurlow Nunn League

Div 1 North: March Town United 5 Ipswich Wanderers 2

Hares boss Brett Whaley hailed his side's "best 65 minutes" as Craig Gillies struck four goals and meaning a March forward has notched a hat-trick in three successive games.

This run included Jack Friend hitting a treble in last week's 3-2 home win over King's Lynn Town Reserves.

Friend bagged the other goal on Saturday to propel March into fourth place and leapfrog Ipswich Wanderers.

Whaley said: "For 65 minutes it was probably our best performance.

"Unfortunately we took foot off the pedal a little bit and let them back in the game.

"I think some of the things we did, you could see the improvement we're making, but it's a case of doing this for 90 minutes: 5-2 was a fair reflection.

"That's 37 goals already this season. This is three consecutive games we've scored hat-tricks and it's one each (Gillies, Friend and Toby Allen).

"We conceded in the first minute on Saturday against a side above us in the table: sometimes you feel worried.

"We feel now, if we settle in the game, we'll get goals. It takes a bit of pressure off us."
