Hockey: Long Sutton Ladies beat St Ives 2nds and Gittins twins shine to keep improving on first half of season

Sutton keep improving on the first half of the season, when they had beaten St Ives, and move up to third in the table.
Playing a team lower in the league can sometimes bring about complacency, but Sutton took an early lead.
Fine interplay between the Gittins twins set up a goal for the less prolific of the two, Emmy. St Ives were unable to trouble the defence, which had been forced into a change with usual left back, Lauren Cooper, watching from a wheelchair on the sideline.
The second goal was scored by Connie Gittins. The second half was a bit of a spectator sport for the Sutton defence. St Ives won only one short corner all game. The game was being dominated by the Sutton midfield of Dodd, Gittins and Collingwood-Smith, with Parr pushing forward. Four goals were added, with a further three for Connie Gittins, two of them rebounds off shots from player of the match Hannah Baker.
