The Hares played their first game since December 13 in this derby – and it showed, according to their boss.

The hosts went 2-1 up at The Walks on Saturday before Denny Escorcio replied in the second half, but Lynn got their third goal to kill off the match.

March joint boss Chris Bartlett said: “The game lacked a lot of quality because both teams hadn’t played since December 13.

“Lads at this level lose their sharpness. We were missing key players.

“At 2-1 we could have forced a draw which might have been fair.”

Next Saturday key duo Dan Woods and Lewis McManus return when March entertain Great Yarmouth in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One, while the Hares last night hosted Histon in the Ridgeons Invitation Cup with Bartlett pledging to field a strong side to give his players more game time.

March: Beeny, Jackman. Fiddes, Conyard, Goult, Mattless, Evans, Pepper, Brand, Escorcio, Flatters. Subs: Ayres, Young, Morton. Booked: Pepper, Escorcio, Brand.

Attendance: 129.
