Wisbech parkrunners join in the forthcoming wedding celebrations of Three Counties Running Club couple
There was more than just sweat and determination at Wisbech Parkrun on Saturday morning, as a local couple turned the weekly 5K into a celebration of love ahead of their big day.
In a twist to the usual event, Craig Freestone and Tracey Else of Three Counties Running Club staged their “Sten do” - a joint stag and hen party - in full wedding attire, delighting the 167 runners and walkers who took part.
The couple, who first met through their shared love of running in April 2021, made headlines among the parkrun crowd when they tackled the course three-legged and in full bridal gear -complete with a procession of fellow club members dressed as bridesmaids, guests, and even a vicar.
The couple’s passion for running has always played a major role in their relationship. Freestone even proposed at the finish line of the Manchester Marathon.
So when it came time for a pre-wedding celebration, there was never any doubt it would involve lacing up their trainers.
Twenty-nine members of TCRC joined in the festivities, donning themed outfits and cheering the couple on.
The finish was marked in style, as friends formed a funnel archway for the pair to run through, showering them with dried flower confetti in a magical, lighthearted tribute to their upcoming wedding this August.
Fellow Three Counties Running Club members wish them the best of luck and happiness for the future.
