Interim Wisbech manager Kevin Ward was left bemused by decisions that cost his team at least a point at home to Worksop Town this afternoon.

After the Fenmen were denied a first half penalty and a second half goal, Ward told me: "We were okay in the first half, good in patches, but I always say you create your own luck and we kept banging on the door, kept going and going and two decisions went against us.

"Charlie (Sanders) got brought down – I don't care what anyone says. How they (the officials) don't see that pull, I don't know. But the goal... the linesman admitted to me he did not see that the player put it in his own net. He's waving for offside and the ball has never been offside so I don't understand.

"But when you are down there near the bottom you don't get the rub of the green and you have to accept that. My lads are bitterly disappointed in what they've been given by the officials today but there's loads of positives.

"I thought we could have got something out of that. If we'd have got one goal, we'd have probably got two.

"But we train in midweek and we have seven days now to look at our injuries and decide if we bring anyone else in. Then we roll our sleeves up and travel to Carlton Town and see what we get from that. They're flying at the moment but we will try our best."

Ward confirmed he has brought in former Bourne Town manager Rob Middleton as his assistant and also confirmed midfielder Danny Setchell has left the club. He said: "Danny has decided he does not want to be at this football club for whatever reason. I wish him all the best and thank him for everything he has done but all players can be replaced and there are others who will want a shot at Step 4. It just means me and Rob have got to be busier than ever.

"I've got a list of players to speak to and I need to do a sales job and tell them the team at the bottom of the league is playing very good football and has an excellent changing room, a phenomenal team spirit.
