Wins for March and Wisbech St Mary but Wisbech defeated

More news, no ads

There were great home wins for March Town and Wisbech St Mary in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League division one north this afternoon - but a disappointing and controversial home defeat for Wisbech Town.

Kev Ward's men stay bottom of the BetVictor Northern Premier League south east division after losing 1-0 at home to mid-table Worksop Town.

However, they will feel aggrieved at this defeat after being denied a first half penalty after a shove on Charlie Sanders in the box and having a last minute equaliser ruled out for offside - even though the final touch came off a home defender.

Craig Gillies was the hero for March as he netted a hat-trick against mid-table Needham Market Reserves, Toby Allen, Jack Saunders and Dylan Edge getting the others. The Hares are now just a point from the fourth place promotion spot with two games in hand over current occupants Norwich CBS.

Wisbech St Mary are still bottom of the table but picked up their second win of the season with an impressive 4-0 home victory against King's Lynn Reserves. Goals came from Jake Miller, Corey Kingston's seventh in nine games, Jordan Goult and Ryan Harnwell.

In the premier division of the Peterborough League, struggling Leverington Sports had a great 4-0 home victory against ICA Sports. They are now five points clear of bottom place Tydd FC who were beaten 3-0 at Peterborough Polonia.
