Hares finish top of League Cup Group A with hard fought win
Cambs League Cup – March Town 3 Wisbech St Mary Ladies 1
The Hares finished top of League Cup Group A with a hard fought win over Wisbech St Mary.
It was also a fantastic full debut for Player of the Match, 16 year-old Megan Tombs, with a goal and an assist.
WSM had a great start with a goal after two minutes with a lob over Hares 'keeper Tori Sharpe.
Saints had a chance to go two up but a fine save from Sharpe stopped it going in.
Tombs set up Emma Searle for a long range shot on 30 minutes to make it 1-1 at half-time.
On 60 minutes, Tombs had a shot that cannoned off the cross-bar and Emma Frost played it back for Tombs to hit it high into the net.
The game remained open but Searle sealed the three points when she controlled and hit the ball over the WSM keeper with ten minutes to go.
A really open game with the only difference being the Hares taking their chances.
The Hares now go into the Quarter-Final knockout draw, with Group A runners up Wisbech Town.
