March members shine in the Stamford leg of the Peterborough Grand Prix




March AC continued their impressive showing in the Peterborough Grand Prix series this week, with a strong turnout at the Stamford leg of the event.

Both junior and senior athletes tackled the challenging, hilly course to record a string of impressive performances.

In the juniors 3k race, Archie McClure led the charge for fourth spot overall in a time of 10:33.

He was closely followed by Liberty Sibthorp.

Rowan Whittlesey and Austin Sibthorp were neck-and-neck throughout the race, with just four seconds separating them at the finish.

Alfie McClure and Phoenix Head followed with commendable efforts, both delivering solid performances to round off a successful race for the junior squad.

As the seniors took to the 5k course, Mark Godfrey led the team with a superb run, clocking in just over 18 minutes to smash his time from last year.

Next to cross the line were Andy Cole and Serge Lambert, with fewer than ten seconds between them.

For the March AC ladies, Kanina O’Neil impressed with her best time of the year, leading the women’s contingent with a brilliant effort.

Dawn Goodley and Samantha Hodson followed closely behind, securing places on the club’s internal ladies’ podium with strong finishes.

There were more personal milestones achieved as Kai Stoner continued his fine form by notching up another personal best.

He was joined by Dean Markillie, with both runners achieving impressive sub-20-minute finishes.
