Sutton Bridge looking for young golfers
Sutton Bridge Golf Club is looking for junior players to swell their ranks for the competitive campaign ahead.
The New Road club has entered the South Lincolnshire Junior League and is looking to expand its keen section of youngsters.
They normally meet on a Sunday morning under the tutelage of club PGA professional Dayne Hawkins, who will be resuming his coaching once the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
The club are looking for players of all ages to join the junior section with the possibility of representing them in the Junior League and competitions or simply to learn a new sport.
There is a Junior Mixed Open competition due to be held at the club on Sunday, August 29, and this will be open to all youngsters from other clubs that wish to participate.
Any junior interested in attending a Sunday morning coaching session should contact Dayne on 07917 003261 or email hawkinspga@icloud.com
Golf clubs across the area will be allowed to re-open again on Monday, March 29, following the Government’s announcement this week.
However, the sport’s governing body – England Golf – has expressed its frustration at not being allowed to open sooner.
A statement said: “England Golf is extremely disappointed that the scientific evidence presented to Government detailing how the sport can be played in a Covid-secure manner has not resulted in a return to play date earlier than March 29.
“We will now examine the details of the Government’s roadmap before making further comment and working with our community of clubs, counties and golfers to prepare for the game’s safe return.”
