Tydd reach play-off
ChromaSport & Trophies Peterborough & District Football League
Whittlesey Athletic B 3
Tydd St Mary FC 10
Tydd needed just a point on Saturday to reach the Division 3 play-offs, and did it in style.
Stu Easey started the rout after just six minutes when he struck a superb goal from the edge of the box.
The Saints were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes for handball and top scorer Tim Lowe slotted home for 2-0.
Just one minute later Dan Piccaver’s sublime ball through to Easey was thumped home.
Other first half goals: Max Burrell set up Dale Parnell, Parnell turned provider for Lowe, Easey with a chip from 45 yards and Burrell; second half: sub Andy Cook, who joined from Thorney in late March, Burrell and Scott Pemberton. Tydd’s co-manager, Dave Monaghan, said: “We knew Whittlesey had nothing to play for, but we had everything to play for.
“A draw would have done but we wanted to start strongly and get the job done by half-time. We did that and the lads could afford to relax.
“We now have Stamford Lions in the play-off and this should be a cracking game. Looking forward to it.”
March Saracens 2
Shouldham 1
Saracens signed off for the King’s Lynn Sunday League season with a fine win.
Shouldham went in front but March responded when captain Dan Smethurst converted a penalty.
In the second half with the home side wasting several chances it was left to striker Alan Irvine to poke home the winner.
MoM: Andrew Claridge.
