Fenland athlete participates in Haywards Heath 10-mile race
Three Counties Running Club member Vicki Newton took part in a very unique event whilst running in the Haywards Heath 10-mile race.
The 10-mile race is the second race in a three-race series, which together comprises the Mid Sussex Marathon Bank holiday weekend, which also includes a marathon, 10k, 1 mile and a fun run.
The Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, partnered with the University of Bedfordshire, is an exciting new study to determine how pre-exercise hydration impacts physiological response and running performance.
The study was open to runners and triathletes between the age of 18-45. Vicki was with 15 others on the study running alongside.
A two-loop course covered roads, paths and beautiful trails in and around Haywards Heath with some very hilly sections on a rather warm day.
Newton had to take part in lots of tests before and after the race to help give data for the study and still finished in a great time of 1:20:55 and 148th out of 410 runners.
Rachel Bowling took part in the Breckland 10k race hosted by Thetford AC.
The one-lap race takes place in a little village outside Thetford with lovely country scenery.
Rachel had a great run, finishing in a PB time of 1:03:52.
