Wisbech Town still in second of Peterborough Walking Football League after Boston Utd loss and beating Harborough and Moulton

PDFL (Peterborough and District Walking Football League) Region 1 game day six: Wisbech Town 0 Boston Utd 3; Wisbech 4 Harborough Town Juniors Hornets 2; Wisbech 5 Moulton Masters (Npton) 1.

Wisbech Town still sit in second place after a tough test in the latest fixtures facing unbeaten leaders Boston, Market Harborough, who sat in third in the league, and Moulton, who started fifth.

After losing against Boston, manager Jonny Pearce asked the players to play to their strengths and, in a much more impressive display, two goals from Wayne Beasant, one from Ben Baylis and a debut goal for Simon Gant saw Wisbech beat Harborough.

Moulton were the next opponents and the team were asked to carry on where they left off, playing as a unit and looking dangerous in every attack. Two more goals came from Beasant and two from usual goal machine, who had turned provider for the day, Steve Wyness, and a goal for Baylis, while Paul Murray was unlucky not to get his first-ever competitive goal. Player of the day was Wayne Beasant.

Pearce said: “Disappointed about the Boston result because that was a must-win game, but they are a quality side.”
