Gary Setchell's Fenmen troops earn second draw of bank holiday weekend
Evostik League Division One East: Stamford 0 Wisbech Town FC 0
Wisbech Town guaranteed their survival with a battling derby point away on Easter Monday this afternoon.
Gary Setchell's troops earned their second draw of the bank holiday weekend.
The Fenmen keep a clean sheet for the first time in 24 games which secured the point needed to guarantee Step 4 football next season.
Dylan Edge's early cross/shot just missed the target while the hosts' Joe Boachie sent a lofted shot which beat away keeper Dan Swan but fell short of crossing the line – these were the best of the first-half efforts.
In the second half came a superb goal-line clearance from Rob Morgan to deny an effort from the Fenmen's Jack Keeble and Stamford cleared the resulting corner.
Home keeper Haystead bravely saved at the feet of Edge, who was later booked and replaced.
Wisbech maintained some stout defending to keep the Daniels out as both sides threw on substitutes in a bid to break the deadlock.
