Wisbech reader says 'go cash-free' and beat criminals

I was interested to read (Citizen, January 29) that March Golf Club is going cash-free after a spate of burglaries.

Over the last 11 months the golf club has experienced three night-time ‘break-ins’.

The club is urging players, members and visitors to use cash-free payments in a move to beat the burglars.

The management committee has revised club processes around its security, safety and staff training.

Discussions have been undertaken with its insurance company and the local police and it has been decided the best way forward is to make the club in Grange Road a cash-free site.

In this modern age where forms of payment such as debit cards, credit cards and BACS payments are second nature, it just makes sense.

All other sports and social clubs in the Fenland area should follow March Golf Club’s lead and go cash-free.

Otherwise, they too will also become a target for criminals in search of cash.

Wisbech.
