A Wisbech Grammar School student has made her musical mark by scoring almost 100 per cent in her grade eight instrumental examination for the saxophone. Lauren Mounfield , 18, pictured above, soared above the 85 marks needed for a distinction to record a near perfect 98 per cent in the Trinity College London exam, demonstrating her skills in scales, arpeggios and pieces, as well as in aural exercises. A pupil of Ceri Griffin, Lauren has been playing the saxophone for eight years and has also achieved a merit at grade seven with the flute. She also plays in the school’s jazz band. PHOTO SUBMITTED

Two members of March Lions have received a Membership Excellence Pin for 2013-2014. Lion John Potter and Lion Ian Groome were delighted to be presented with the prestigious pin. The award recognises them for each bringing in three new members in the past year. The pins were presented at the Lions meeting at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel, by Lion President Ruth Martin. The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
